Wisconsin – Ice clings to tree branches and guardrails across Green Bay this morning as misty rain slowly turns colder. Roads glisten under gray skies, and drivers are already noticing slick patches forming on bridges and side streets.

A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect across Brown and Calumet counties, including Green Bay, as a messy mix of precipitation moves through the region. Forecasters say freezing rain, sleet, and light snow will combine to create slippery travel through the late morning hours.

Temperatures hover near 31°F, the kind of borderline cold that allows thin ice to develop quickly. Even small amounts of freezing drizzle can coat untreated surfaces.

Motorists traveling along Interstate 43, U.S. Highway 41, and Wisconsin Highway 172 should expect changing road conditions. Bridges and overpasses are especially vulnerable to ice buildup.

Light snow will gradually replace the icy mix as colder air filters across northeast Wisconsin. While snowfall totals remain light, even a thin coating can make roads slick. Gusty winds may also push loose snow across highways.

Meteorologists warn that conditions could shift again in the coming days. Another system arriving Thursday night may bring additional rain changing to snow, followed by colder air across the region.

By Friday, March 13, temperatures remain chilly with highs in the upper 30s and a chance of scattered snow showers. While accumulations appear limited, the mix of melting snow and evening temperatures dropping below freezing can create flash-freezing patches on roads and sidewalks.

The weekend pattern stays unsettled. Additional snow chances could return Saturday night into Sunday as another storm tracks through the Upper Midwest.

With spring just days away, Wisconsin continues to experience the classic March weather tug-of-war between winter and early spring warmth.
