Milwaukee, Wisconsin – Slick roads and reduced visibility could slow travel across Wisconsin by Wednesday morning as multiple rounds of rain move in, creating hazardous conditions during peak commute hours.

According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, Wisconsin is in a high-confidence zone for above-average precipitation from Wednesday through Saturday, with totals expected to run 30 to 60 percent higher than normal. A strong warm signal is also in place, with a 70 to 80 percent probability of above-normal temperatures across the Upper Midwest.

Milwaukee, Madison, and Green Bay are expected to see repeated waves of rainfall, increasing the risk of standing water on major corridors including I-94, I-90, and I-43. In eastern Wisconsin, including Kenosha and Racine, heavier bursts could reduce visibility below one mile at times. Western areas such as La Crosse and Eau Claire may see localized flooding in low-lying and flood-prone locations.

Drivers should slow down on wet pavement, avoid water-covered roads, and allow extra time for travel. Residents are encouraged to clear storm drains and check sump pumps ahead of the heaviest rain.

This wet and warm pattern is expected to continue through Saturday night, with additional advisories likely as rainfall totals and timing become more precise.
