La Crosse, Wis. – Heavy rain and possible flooding are on tap for southern Wisconsin this week, especially south of I-90, as multiple rounds of storms continue through Wednesday morning and into the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in La Crosse, confidence is high that these storms will bring periods of significant rainfall, though exact amounts and timing remain uncertain. For now, the heaviest rainfall is expected south of I-90 through Tuesday, with a broader swath of heavy rain spreading northward by Wednesday morning.

La Crosse, Viroqua, and Prairie du Chien are all in the zone that could receive 2 to 4 inches or more of rainfall, particularly in localized bursts. Rochester and portions of northeast Iowa may also experience similar impacts. Flooding could become a concern in low-lying or poor drainage areas, especially where repeated storms track over the same regions.

Drivers should monitor road conditions closely, avoid flooded roads, and allow extra time for commutes. Homeowners in flood-prone areas are urged to clear drains and prepare for potential water accumulation. Rain will likely linger through at least Saturday, with more alerts possible as patterns evolve.
