Wisconsin Weather Alert: Heavy Rain and Flood Watch in Effect for Central and East-Central Regions

Green Bay, WI – Rainfall amounts across portions of central and east-central Wisconsin have increased with the latest forecast this morning. A Flood Watch is in effect from 7 PM today to 7 AM Tuesday for locations along and south of Highway 29. The heavy rain could lead to localized flash flooding, urban street flooding, and ponding of water on area roads. Rivers, creeks, and ditches will be on the rise through the middle of the week.

According to the US National Weather Service in Green Bay, a round of heavy rain is expected to arrive late Monday afternoon in central Wisconsin and across much of the area south of a Merrill to Sturgeon Bay line Monday night. Highest rainfall totals are expected across central Wisconsin, where some locations could see up to 2 inches. Thunderstorms are also possible across central and east-central Wisconsin; however, the storms are not expected to be severe.

Impacts of the heavy rain include localized flash flooding, urban street flooding, and ponding on roadways. Water levels on rivers, creeks, and ditches will be on the rise. The Flood Watch affects Brown, Calumet, Kewaunee, Manitowoc, Marathon, Outagamie, Portage, Shawano, Waupaca, Waushara, Winnebago, and Wood counties.
