Milwaukee, Wisconsin – Brutal heat and a brewing thunderstorm threat will grip southeast Wisconsin Monday, July 28th, as summer weather turns dangerous again.
According to the National Weather Service in Sullivan, heat index values between 100 and 105°F are expected across much of southeast, east-central, and south-central Wisconsin, including Milwaukee, Waukesha, Jefferson, and Dodge counties. A heat advisory may follow if temperatures remain elevated through the day. Thunderstorms could develop after 1 p.m., with isolated strong storms possible into Monday night.
Residents should limit outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours and stay hydrated. Storms could impact I-94, I-43, and Highway 41, with heavy rain and isolated lightning after 4 p.m. If commuting, expect possible slowdowns or detours.
The Milwaukee metro is not alone — the entire region, from Fond du Lac to Kenosha, will feel the brunt of Monday’s dangerous heat. Though spotter activation is not anticipated, emergency management agencies are urging residents to prepare for power disruptions or brief flooding in low-lying areas.
Looking ahead, more scattered thunderstorms are possible Tuesday and Wednesday, with highs gradually dropping into the mid-70s by midweek.
