Green Bay, WI – Gusty winds and high waves are set to create hazardous conditions on Lake Michigan through tonight and into Thursday morning. The National Weather Service has issued a Small Craft Advisory for both the nearshore waters of Lake Michigan and the Bay of Green Bay.
According to the National Weather Service, the Small Craft Advisory is in effect until 7 p.m. today for the Bay of Green Bay and until 7 p.m. Thursday for Lake Michigan nearshore waters from Sturgeon Bay to Sheboygan. Winds are expected to be from the north to northeast at 10 to 20 knots, with gusts reaching up to 25 knots. Wave heights will range from 1 to 3 feet on the Bay of Green Bay, and 2 to 5 feet on Lake Michigan, with the highest waves occurring south of Algoma.
For those in the area, the NWS advises caution on the water. Boaters should be prepared for rough conditions and avoid non-essential travel on the lake. The advisory is expected to remain in effect until 7 p.m. Thursday, but additional updates may follow as conditions evolve.
