Flurries swirl through frosted air this morning across Green Bay as winds off the bay carry a crisp, biting chill. The quiet hum of plows and the crunch of tires on snow-dusted roads signal the start of another active December stretch for northeast Wisconsin.

According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, slippery conditions continue today after light snow overnight. Temperatures linger near 18°F, keeping pavement frozen and untreated surfaces icy. Drivers should use caution on bridges, side streets, and rural stretches, where patchy black ice could persist through midday.

Meteorologists are now tracking a stronger clipper system arriving late Monday into Tuesday. This fast-moving disturbance may bring 1 to 3 inches of fresh snow, especially north of Wausau to Green Bay and Manitowoc, with gusty winds reducing visibility during the Tuesday morning commute. Light accumulations are possible farther south, with roads becoming slick through early afternoon.

After a brief lull midweek, another wave of lake-effect snow could develop across eastern Wisconsin late December 11–17, as Arctic air surges south from Canada. Highs are expected to stay well below freezing through next weekend, keeping snow intact and reinforcing winter’s early arrival across the Great Lakes.

Residents are urged to allow extra travel time, layer up against single-digit wind chills, and check on vulnerable neighbors. The first true taste of deep December cold has arrived — and it’s not leaving soon.
