Green Bay, WI – Residents across northeast Wisconsin are bracing for oppressive heat and a rising risk of severe thunderstorms through Saturday night. With heat indices soaring near 100 degrees today, the National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for Green Bay and much of the region from noon until 7 p.m., urging everyone to stay indoors and check on vulnerable neighbors.

According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, dangerous humidity will combine with afternoon highs in the lower 90s, creating a high risk for heat exhaustion and heat stroke, especially in central and east-central Wisconsin. Outdoor activities should be limited, and anyone without air conditioning is advised to seek cooling centers or shaded spaces.

Late tonight, scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop across north-central and central Wisconsin, some turning strong with gusty winds and heavy rain. The threat intensifies Saturday, when damaging winds and additional storms are possible, especially during the afternoon and evening hours. Power outages, downed trees, and localized flooding can’t be ruled out, particularly along major routes like I-41 and near Lake Michigan beaches, where rip currents pose a hazard for swimmers through Saturday evening.

Stay hydrated, avoid strenuous outdoor work during peak heat, and pay attention to local emergency alerts. Further advisories or warnings may be issued as storms develop, so monitor updates and take precautions through the weekend.
