MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Southeastern Wisconsin wakes to one more day of unsettled weather before a sharp shift toward crisp, dry fall air arrives early next week. Widespread showers and a few rumbles of thunder will move across the Milwaukee metro through Saturday, making for slick travel on I-94 and I-43. Drivers and event-goers should pack umbrellas and allow extra time on the roads as gusty winds and wet pavement linger into tonight.

According to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee/Sullivan, a line of thunderstorms will push through this morning and taper by Sunday afternoon. Rainfall totals near a half-inch are expected across Milwaukee, Waukesha, and Racine Counties. Behind the front, cooler and breezier air takes over, with temperatures dropping into the 40s by Sunday night.

Monday marks a fresh start — sunny, brisk, and dry. Highs will hover in the lower 60s, but morning frost is possible inland from the lake, especially west of I-94. Gardeners should protect sensitive plants and late-season flowers from possible early-morning chill.

The rest of the week looks seasonably cool and mostly dry, with sunshine returning Tuesday and Wednesday. A few light showers may clip the area again Thursday, followed by a stretch of perfect fall weather for leaf-viewing, pumpkin patches, and Halloween decorating across southeast Wisconsin.
