LA CROSSE, Wis. – A soggy start to Friday gives way to a golden October weekend across western Wisconsin, where sunshine and a late-fall warm-up will dominate through Sunday. After early showers move out, skies will clear rapidly, setting the stage for one of the most comfortable stretches of fall weather yet.

According to the National Weather Service in La Crosse, lingering rain along I-90 early Friday will taper by midmorning. Drier air arrives with highs near 71°F and a light southwest breeze, bringing relief to commuters and event organizers after several damp days. Saturday looks ideal for pumpkin patch visits, fall park hikes, and leaf viewing, with full sun and highs soaring to near 88°F — well above typical mid-October norms.

By Sunday, temperatures cool slightly into the low 70s as another front approaches. The system could spark a few late-day showers, especially along the Mississippi River Valley and north into Trempealeau County. Columbus Day brings another round of scattered light rain, but totals appear minor.

Residents should take advantage of the dry stretch to clean gutters, check exterior lights, and prep for cooler nights ahead. Next week looks seasonably mild with highs in the 60s and no immediate sign of a frost or freeze for the La Crosse area.
