Milwaukee, WI – A dense fog advisory remains in effect for much of southeast and east-central Wisconsin until 3 a.m. CST Thursday, with reduced visibility creating hazardous travel conditions across the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee/Sullivan, areas including Milwaukee, Madison, Kenosha, Racine, and Janesville are experiencing visibility between one-half and one-quarter mile or less. Drivers should exercise caution, as isolated patches of freezing fog could form in low-lying areas, further complicating road conditions.

Counties under the advisory include Green, Rock, Walworth, Racine, and Kenosha, as well as portions of Marquette, Green Lake, Fond du Lac, Sheboygan, Sauk, Columbia, Dodge, Washington, Ozaukee, Iowa, Dane, Jefferson, Waukesha, and Milwaukee.

Residents traveling overnight are advised to slow down, use headlights, and allow extra distance between vehicles. Fog-related accidents are more likely when visibility is limited, and untreated road surfaces may become slick in areas where freezing fog develops.

The advisory is expected to expire by 3 a.m. as conditions gradually improve. However, drivers should remain vigilant, as lingering fog could persist into the early morning hours. Travelers can check for real-time updates from the National Weather Service or local transportation authorities before heading out.
