La Crosse, WI – Travelers in La Crosse should prepare for dense fog this morning, with visibility reduced to as low as a quarter mile. The National Weather Service has issued a dense fog advisory until noon, warning of hazardous driving conditions along Interstate 90 and other major routes.
According to the National Weather Service, the fog may create icy patches on untreated roads, especially where temperatures hover near freezing. Motorists are urged to use low-beam headlights, slow down, and increase following distances to prevent accidents.
The fog is expected to lift by mid-afternoon, giving way to patchy fog late tonight. Tuesday will bring mostly cloudy skies, with a high of 33 degrees. On New Year’s Day, expect partly sunny conditions with cooler highs near 24 degrees. Winds could gust up to 20 mph, adding to the chill.
Looking ahead to the weekend, snow chances increase on Saturday, with partly cloudy skies and highs in the teens. Travelers should monitor updates and prepare for changing road conditions as winter weather continues.
Residents are encouraged to stay cautious during this morning’s commute, keeping safety in mind as visibility improves later today.
