Milwaukee, WI – Swimmers and boaters face dangerous conditions Tuesday along Lake Michigan as strong waves and rip currents build.
According to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee/Sullivan, a Beach Hazards Statement remains in effect for Sheboygan County beaches from Monday night through Tuesday evening. Waves and currents may become life-threatening. Officials urge residents to stay out of the water and away from piers and breakwalls. A moderate swim risk also exists in Ozaukee County, where breaking waves and river outlets could create dangerous conditions. Always carry a flotation device if near the shoreline.
Drivers across south-central Wisconsin should also use caution Tuesday morning, as dense fog lingers in the Wisconsin River Valley and low-lying areas. By Tuesday night, forecasters say thunderstorms may develop over eastern and south-central counties, possibly disrupting evening commutes on I-94 and I-43.
Daytime weather brings some relief. Tuesday will be mostly sunny with highs near 75, while light winds gradually increase by night. Wednesday continues mild with highs again in the mid-70s, but clouds will build ahead of late-week rain chances.
Beachgoers should plan alternate activities until conditions improve. Avoid non-essential water travel until waves subside by late Tuesday night.
