Green Bay, Wis. – Damaging winds and large hail could impact much of central and eastern Wisconsin through 7 p.m. Saturday as rounds of scattered thunderstorms push across the state.
According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, a marginal risk for severe storms exists today, mainly from central to east-central Wisconsin, including Green Bay, Oshkosh, Appleton, and Fond du Lac. The most active severe window is expected between 12 p.m. and 5 p.m., but isolated storms may continue into the early evening.
Localized strong to severe cells could bring gusts over 50 mph and hail up to an inch in diameter. Communities along I-41 and Highway 29 should prepare for sudden downpours and brief power outages. While not all areas will see rain or storms, all locations are at risk for rapidly changing conditions.
Residents are urged to monitor local alerts and avoid outdoor activities during peak storm hours. Secure loose items, charge devices, and have multiple ways to receive warnings. Boaters on Lake Winnebago and the Bay of Green Bay should be especially cautious of fast-moving storms.
Storms are expected to taper by 7 p.m., though additional advisories could be issued if conditions change.
