Wisconsin – Quiet skies over La Crosse won’t last long as a multi-day stretch of rain and storms begins to organize, bringing the risk of heavy downpours and stronger storms early this week.
According to the National Weather Service in La Crosse, temperatures begin climbing Sunday, with highs reaching the upper 60s to upper 70s. That warming trend sets the stage for increasing instability, allowing storms to develop and persist through midweek.
Rain chances increase Sunday, with scattered showers and storms developing through the day and into the night. Coverage becomes more widespread Monday, when highs reach the low to upper 70s and storm chances climb to around 60 to 90 percent in some areas.
By Monday afternoon into Tuesday, a few storms could turn strong to severe. Areas along U.S. 14, U.S. 61, and I-90 may see periods of heavy rain, lightning, and gusty winds. Repeated rounds of storms could lead to localized flooding, especially in low-lying or poor drainage areas.
Communities across western Wisconsin, including La Crosse, Onalaska, and Prairie du Chien, should prepare for changing conditions and potential travel slowdowns during heavier rainfall.
By Wednesday, showers and storms continue, though temperatures cool slightly into the mid-60s to mid-70s.
Residents should stay weather-aware and have multiple ways to receive alerts as this active pattern unfolds through midweek.
