Wisconsin – Dark clouds build and winds shift across Green Bay as heavy rain and thunderstorms begin organizing, raising concerns for flooded streets and rapidly rising rivers by late today.

According to the National Weather Service, a Flood Watch is in effect from this afternoon through Tuesday morning across northeast Wisconsin, including Brown, Outagamie, Winnebago, and Door counties. Rainfall totals between 1 and 3 inches are expected, with locally higher amounts possible in stronger storms.

Storms will intensify through the afternoon and evening. Some could produce large hail over 2 inches and damaging wind gusts. A brief tornado cannot be ruled out in stronger cells, especially west of Green Bay toward Wausau and Wisconsin Rapids.

Urban flooding becomes a concern quickly. Roads across Green Bay, Appleton, and Oshkosh may see standing water during heavy downpours. Drivers along I-41 and Highway 29 should plan for slower travel and reduced visibility.

Rivers are already elevated, including the Fox and Wolf Rivers. Additional rainfall will worsen runoff, increasing the risk of minor flooding and possibly moderate flooding in some areas through midweek.

Showers continue into Tuesday, with lingering rain chances around 60 percent before a brief break. Another round of storms returns Wednesday, followed by additional chances late week.

Temperatures trend cooler midweek, dropping into the upper 50s before rebounding toward the upper 60s and near 70 by late week. Warmer air builds again heading into next weekend, signaling a stronger push of spring.

Five Day Forecast for Green Bay, Wisconsin
Tuesday: High 69°F, chance of showers
Wednesday: High 58°F, showers likely
Thursday: High 66°F, chance of showers
Friday: High 69°F, chance of storms
Saturday: High 57°F, chance of rain
