LA CROSSE, WI – The National Weather Service in La Crosse warns that the coldest air of the season will settle across Wisconsin and surrounding states this weekend, bringing dangerous wind chills and life-threatening cold conditions.

Temperatures will stay in the single digits above and below zero through the weekend, with overnight lows dropping well below zero.
From Friday night through Monday morning, wind chills will range from -20°F to -35°F, with the coldest period expected Sunday morning.

The probability of -25°F or colder wind chills is 70–85% across much of central and western Wisconsin, including areas near Eau Claire, Black River Falls, and Wisconsin Rapids.

These conditions pose a serious frostbite risk within minutes, especially if skin is exposed. Residents are urged to dress in layers, cover all exposed skin, and limit time outdoors. Pets should also be brought indoors during this extreme cold.
