Milwaukee, Wis. – Snow arriving as early as 8 p.m. could quickly coat roads across southeast Wisconsin, setting up a slick and slow commute by early Wednesday morning.
According to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee/Sullivan, light powdery snow will spread west to east tonight, with the heaviest band between 11 p.m. and 4 a.m. Total accumulation will range from 1 to 2 inches, with higher totals more likely along and west of the I-39 corridor.
As the snow tapers off toward sunrise, a 20% chance of freezing drizzle could leave a thin glaze on top of snow-covered roads and elevated surfaces. This combination raises the risk for slippery travel on major routes including I-94, I-43, and I-41, especially during the morning commute window between 5 a.m. and 8 a.m.
Milwaukee, Madison, Janesville, and Waukesha could all see reduced traction on untreated roads. Drivers should slow down, allow extra stopping distance, and remain alert for rapidly changing conditions overnight.
Snow ends shortly after sunrise, but slick spots may linger into mid-morning. Additional advisories could be issued if freezing drizzle becomes more widespread.
