Green Bay, WI – A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect across northern Wisconsin as a powerful storm brings heavy snow and strong winds through Thursday evening, according to the National Weather Service in Green Bay.
Forecasters say 6–12 inches of snow are expected across north-central Wisconsin, with localized totals exceeding 18 inches possible in the northwest corner of Vilas County. Lighter snowfall amounts of 1–5 inches are likely elsewhere in the region.
The heaviest snow will fall from Tuesday night through early Thursday, with strong northwest winds gusting between 30 and 45 mph leading to blowing and drifting snow. Hazardous road conditions, low visibility, and slippery surfaces are expected, making travel dangerous — particularly for Thanksgiving travelers.
Officials urge drivers to monitor forecasts, avoid unnecessary travel, and keep emergency kits in their vehicles.
