Dodge County, WI – A Hustisford village clerk/treasurer was arrested Monday after investigators alleged she embezzled tens of thousands of dollars from the village and a local youth soccer club.

According to the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office, village officials in September 2025 reported significant financial discrepancies uncovered during an audit. Investigators determined that Kim Hopfinger, who served as Hustisford’s clerk/treasurer, allegedly stole village funds and also diverted money from the Hustisford Soccer Club, where she was treasurer.

Hopfinger was taken into custody on September 29, 2025 (Monday) and booked into the Dodge County Jail. She faces charges of misconduct in public office and theft by virtue of employment greater than $10,000 but less than $100,000, according to state statutes.

Sheriff Dale Schmidt credited Hustisford leaders for quickly flagging the discrepancies and providing documentation to authorities. “While one village official allegedly took advantage of the citizens of Hustisford, others stepped up to do the right thing,” Schmidt said. He added that the village has already begun implementing stricter financial accountability measures.

Officials emphasized that Hopfinger is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court. Jail booking information can be found under the “Arrest” tab on the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office app.
