Madison, Wis. – Four tornadoes touched down across southern Wisconsin on Wednesday, including a damaging EF-1 in Dodgeville that tore a 6.95-mile path through Iowa County farmland and caused structural damage.
According to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee/Sullivan, tornadoes were confirmed in Iowa, Dane, and Dodge counties between 12:20 p.m. and 3:33 p.m. on July 16. The strongest was the Dodgeville EF-1, with peak winds of 95 mph and a path width of 150 yards. Though no injuries or deaths were reported, officials noted building damage in the area.
Dane County experienced an EF-0 tornado southeast of Sauk City at 1:15 p.m., with winds up to 80 mph. Dodge County saw two EF-0 tornadoes—one in Beaver Dam around 3 p.m. and another near Hustisford shortly after—each with winds between 60–70 mph. Most damage involved trees, crops, and utility lines.
Residents are urged to remain weather-aware, especially as cleanup continues. Emergency managers recommend securing outdoor items, reporting downed lines, and monitoring NOAA Weather Radio for any lingering risks.
