Park Falls, Wisconsin – Residents in Iron, Ashland, and Price counties scrambled for safety Tuesday evening as a tornado warning was issued for northwestern Wisconsin, sending sirens blaring from Park Falls to Fifield. The alert, prompted by radar-detected rotation, remains active until 8:30 p.m. with the most immediate threat to Park Falls and nearby communities.

According to the National Weather Service in Duluth, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was spotted near Butternut at 7:39 p.m., tracking east at 50 mph. Emergency officials warn that flying debris, roof damage, and downed trees are likely if the storm produces a tornado. Park Falls and Fifield are in the direct path of this dangerous system.

Residents in the warning area—including southeastern Iron County, southeastern Ashland County, and northern Price County—should seek shelter in a basement or interior room away from windows. Those in mobile homes or vehicles are advised to move to sturdy buildings immediately and protect themselves from flying debris.

Roads such as U.S. Highway 13 and State Highway 70 could see debris or downed power lines if the storm intensifies. Power outages are possible, so charge devices now and prepare emergency kits with water and flashlights.

Tornado warnings remain in effect until 8:30 p.m., with updates possible if the storm continues east. Stay tuned for new alerts and take all warnings seriously.
