Green Bay, Wis. – Wisconsin will see a sharp weather shift this week as a strong cold front brings storms Tuesday night before temperatures plunge into fall-like territory by midweek.

According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, quiet and warm conditions will last through Labor Day and much of Tuesday with highs in the mid-70s. By late Tuesday, the advancing front will spark rain and thunderstorms across much of the state, lingering into Wednesday morning. Behind it, cooler Canadian air will settle in, dropping daytime highs into the 50s and low 60s by Thursday.

The most immediate impacts will be felt across northern counties, including Vilas County, where isolated afternoon showers may develop today. By Tuesday night, widespread rain is expected from Green Bay to Milwaukee, with heavier pockets possible along major corridors such as I-41 and I-94. Gusty winds could also accompany the storms, creating slick roads for late-night and early-morning commuters.

Residents should prepare for the dramatic temperature drop, especially those with outdoor plans for the holiday week. Layers, rain gear, and extra time for travel are recommended. Cooler, unsettled conditions with occasional showers are expected Thursday and Friday.

More advisories could be issued midweek as the front moves through.
