Green Bay, Wis. – A wall of Canadian wildfire smoke will choke the skies over northeast Wisconsin through Friday, August 1, triggering health concerns and limiting visibility.

According to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and the National Weather Service in Green Bay, an Air Quality Advisory remains in effect for all of Wisconsin through 12 p.m. Friday. PM2.5 levels have reached the “Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups” category, and may spike to “Very Unhealthy” by midday Friday.

Residents with asthma or heart disease should limit time outdoors and keep rescue inhalers or medications nearby. Everyone else is urged to avoid strenuous activity and stay inside if symptoms develop. Visibility may also dip below four miles, especially near Lake Michigan and along Highway 41, Interstate 43, and rural corridors in Brown, Calumet, and Manitowoc counties.

In addition, rip current risks remain high at Kewaunee and Manitowoc County beaches due to persistent northeast winds and wave activity.

Here’s the extended 5-day Green Bay forecast:

  • Friday, August 1: Sunny, high near 78°F. Northeast wind 6–11 mph. Smoke may linger in the morning, improving by late afternoon.
  • Saturday: Sunny and warmer, high 83°F. Light south winds.
  • Sunday: Mostly sunny, high 83°F. Breezy and warmer overnight.
  • Monday: Mostly sunny, high near 82°F.
  • Tuesday: Slight chance of PM showers or storms. High 83°F, with more humid conditions developing.
