Milwaukee, Wisconsin – Waves up to six feet and dangerous rip currents have triggered a summer weather alert for Milwaukee County beaches Monday morning, as thunderstorms build into the evening.
According to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee/Sullivan, a Beach Hazards Statement remains in effect until 10 a.m. Monday for Milwaukee, Racine, and Kenosha counties. Swimmers are urged to stay out of the water as strong structural and longshore currents remain possible. Dangerous swimming conditions will be worsened by onshore winds and high waves along Lake Michigan.
By Monday afternoon, rain chances increase across southeastern Wisconsin with a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 4 p.m. Storms may linger into Tuesday night. Commuters along I-794 near the lakefront should watch for brief downpours and reduced visibility during the evening drive.
The unsettled pattern continues into midweek. Wednesday will bring mostly sunny skies and highs near 80°F, offering a brief break in the storm chances. However, another round of storms may arrive late Thursday into Friday, bringing scattered rain and thunderstorm activity across much of the region.
