Milwaukee, Wisconsin – Southern Wisconsin faces a one-two weather punch late Monday as dangerous heat gives way to potentially damaging storms overnight.

According to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee, a complex of strong to severe thunderstorms is expected to arrive between 10 p.m. Monday and 1 a.m. Tuesday, peaking from 11 p.m. to 3 a.m. The system, moving in from Minnesota and western Wisconsin, could still carry strong wind gusts, small hail, and frequent lightning—especially south and east of I-39, including cities like Madison, Janesville, and Milwaukee.

Heavy rain is likely, and while the storms should weaken as they move southeast, wind damage remains a concern. Earlier Monday, the region baked under a Heat Advisory with “feels-like” temps soaring past 100°F in places like Monroe (102°F) and Fond du Lac (101°F), further stressing power systems ahead of the storms.

Residents are urged to avoid unnecessary travel during peak storm hours, secure outdoor items, and charge electronics in advance. Localized power outages are possible due to wind and lightning strikes.

Storm activity may linger through 6 a.m. Tuesday, with additional alerts possible.
