Milwaukee, Wis. – A weakening but still potent line of storms could bring gusty winds and lightning to parts of Wisconsin during the early morning commute on Monday, with impacts most likely between 4 and 9 a.m.
According to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee, the storm complex is expected to drift south from Minnesota and Iowa overnight. While the exact path and intensity remain uncertain, the greatest risk lies in western and central Wisconsin, including Eau Claire, La Crosse, and areas near Tomah and Portage.
If the system holds together, early morning travelers in Madison, Green Bay, and even parts of the Milwaukee metro could face slick roads, brief power outages, and delays due to downed limbs or power lines. The main threats are lightning and wind gusts, particularly in areas highlighted in the “Slight Risk” zone by the Storm Prediction Center.
Officials recommend charging devices overnight, securing loose outdoor items, and staying weather-aware in the early hours. Commute disruptions are possible, especially along I-94 and US-53 corridors.
Storm activity is expected to taper off between 8 and 10 a.m., but additional alerts or changes to timing are still possible overnight.
