Duluth, Minnesota – Scorching heat and dangerous storms are set to impact Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin through Monday, with 60 mph wind gusts, large hail, and temperatures near triple digits expected.

According to the National Weather Service in Duluth, isolated severe thunderstorms could develop in north-central and northwest Wisconsin from late Monday morning through 4 p.m. Areas southeast of U.S. Highway 63, including Hayward, Park Falls, and Ironwood, face the greatest threat of damaging winds and hail up to 1 inch.

Meanwhile, across Minnesota, residents from Grand Rapids to Hinckley are under Extreme Heat Warnings as highs soar into the mid-90s. Heat indices will push above 100°F away from Lake Superior, creating a high risk of heat-related illness. Duluth and Two Harbors will be slightly cooler due to lake breezes but still humid.

Severe storm chances return Sunday evening and overnight for northern Minnesota. Two rounds are possible—first between 5–10 p.m. in north-central areas, then another between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m. from the Brainerd Lakes to the Twin Ports region. Main threats include 70 mph winds, 1.5 inches of rain, and isolated large hail.

Heat and storm alerts remain in effect through early Monday. More advisories may follow as conditions evolve.
