Janesville, WI – The Rock County Sheriff’s Office is inviting residents to safely dispose of unused or expired medications during National Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, October 25.

The event will take place outside the Sheriff’s Office main entrance at 200 US-14 in Janesville from 9:00 a.m. to noon, officials said. Deputies will be on-site to collect unwanted prescription drugs and medical sharps for safe and environmentally responsible disposal.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the initiative helps prevent medication misuse and keeps potentially harmful substances out of the community and water systems. The effort is part of a nationwide campaign led by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) to promote responsible medication management.

Residents are encouraged to bring any old, unused, or expired prescriptions — no questions asked. Liquids, needles, and sharp items will also be accepted.

The Rock County Sheriff’s Office noted that the program continues to see strong community participation each year and thanked residents for helping reduce prescription drug abuse across Wisconsin.
