Green Bay, WI – Residents across central Wisconsin and parts of the Upper Midwest may have a rare opportunity to witness both the Perseid meteor shower and the northern lights tonight. The National Weather Service in Green Bay announced the potential double night sky event, noting that the best viewing chances are from central Wisconsin to the lakeshore, extending into Minnesota and Upper Michigan.

According to the National Weather Service, mostly cloudy skies are expected across the area with 40% to 70% coverage. However, periods of clearing could provide a glimpse of these celestial phenomena. The Perseid meteor shower, known for its bright meteors, peaks in mid-August, while the aurora borealis, or northern lights, is an unpredictable but awe-inspiring display of natural light.
