Milwaukee, WI – February begins with a mix of snow and freezing drizzle, making for slick roads and hazardous travel conditions across southeastern Wisconsin. The National Weather Service (NWS) warns that snow will move in tonight, followed by a transition to freezing drizzle early Sunday morning.

According to the NWS Milwaukee/Sullivan, snow is expected to begin around 9 p.m. and taper off by 3 a.m. Areas west of Milwaukee could see flakes as early as 6 p.m. As temperatures hover around 30°F, a light glaze of ice may develop on untreated roads, particularly on highways like I-94 and I-43. Travelers should drive with caution and prepare for potential delays.

Sunday will bring mostly cloudy skies and a high near 45°F, offering a brief break from winter’s grip. However, another round of snow is possible Monday morning, mainly north of I-94. Accumulations are expected to remain light, but any snowfall during the morning commute could slow travel across the region.

Looking ahead, temperatures will remain near seasonal averages, with highs in the mid-to-upper 30s through the week. Tuesday and Wednesday could see a mix of rain and snow, with a 50% chance of precipitation by midweek. Overnight lows will dip into the 20s, increasing the risk of icy patches on roadways.

While no major winter storms are currently forecast, Wisconsin residents should stay alert to changing conditions. Drivers are advised to check road conditions before heading out and allow extra time for travel, especially in the early morning hours.
