GREEN BAY, WI – Severe thunderstorms are moving across parts of Wisconsin, Iowa, Minnesota, and South Dakota, bringing a risk of damaging winds, hail, and flash flooding. The National Weather Service issued Severe Thunderstorm Watch 476 for several counties, including Barron, Rusk, Chippewa, Dunn, and Eau Claire in Wisconsin. The watch remains in effect until 5 a.m. CDT.
Cities like Chippewa Falls, Eau Claire, and Rice Lake could experience severe weather as thunderstorms continue overnight. Drivers are urged to use caution as heavy rain, strong winds, and debris may make travel hazardous, especially on secondary roads and highways.
A separate Severe Thunderstorm Watch (475) is in effect for parts of Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, and South Dakota. Affected areas include Sioux Falls, Brookings, and Worthington, where strong winds and the potential for flash flooding could disrupt power and travel.
In north-central Wisconsin, a watch also remains in effect for Taylor, Price, and Sawyer counties, including Medford and Hayward. The storm system is expected to bring rapidly changing weather conditions, with a possibility of power outages and downed trees.
Residents are advised to stay indoors, avoid unnecessary travel, and prepare for possible disruptions to power and services. The watch expires at 5 a.m. CDT, and conditions may change quickly.
