Green Bay, Wis. – Scorching heat will grip much of Wisconsin this weekend, with heat index values expected to soar past 100°F across central and northeast regions by Saturday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, a Heat Advisory is in effect from noon Saturday through 7 p.m. Monday for 22 counties including Brown, Marathon, Outagamie, and Winnebago. Afternoon heat index readings will range from 95 to 105°F on Saturday and Sunday, with little relief at night as lows remain in the mid to upper 70s.

Cities like Green Bay, Appleton, Wausau, and Oshkosh are likely to see the most intense conditions, especially during peak afternoon hours. The combination of high humidity and heat may lead to increased risk of heat-related illnesses, particularly for vulnerable populations and outdoor workers.

Residents are urged to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activities, and check on elderly neighbors. If possible, spend time in air-conditioned spaces and avoid direct sun during the hottest part of the day. Light, loose clothing is recommended.

This marks the first major heat event of the summer for Wisconsin, and more advisories could follow if the pattern holds.
