Green Bay, WI – The National Weather Service in Green Bay says this year’s Halloween forecast will be close to average for late October — a welcome change after recent extremes that ranged from snowy 2023 to balmy 1950.
Forecasters note that temperatures should hover near normal, with highs generally in the low to mid-50s and a few scattered showers possible in the afternoon. It’s a typical autumn setup for northeast Wisconsin as trick-or-treaters prepare for the spooky evening.
Looking back, Halloween weather in the region has seen some dramatic swings. Records show:
- Green Bay’s warmest Halloween hit 74°F in 1950, while the coldest dropped to 18°F in 1917.
- Appleton and Wausau reached the mid to upper 70s in 1950.
- The snowiest Halloween on record came just two years ago, in 2023, when parts of the area received up to 4.5 inches of snow.
This year’s conditions, however, should feel much more typical — cool, cloudy, and perhaps a bit damp, but without any major weather disruptions.
For costume planning, the NWS advises dressing in layers to stay warm and dry during the evening hours.
