Green Bay, WI – A Freeze Warning is in effect for early Friday, Oct. 24, from 2 a.m. to 9 a.m. CDT across parts of northeast Wisconsin, including the Green Bay metro and the Fox Valley. Lows are expected to dip between 30° and 34°F, ending the growing season for many neighborhoods and producing widespread frost on vehicles and lawns.
According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, the Freeze Warning covers Brown, Outagamie, Winnebago, Calumet, Kewaunee, and Manitowoc counties—impacting communities such as Green Bay, Appleton, Neenah, Menasha, Oshkosh, Brillion, Chilton, Luxemburg, Kewaunee, Manitowoc, and Two Rivers. The coldest readings will occur just before sunrise.
Forecasters warn frost and freeze conditions could kill crops and other sensitive vegetation and may damage unprotected outdoor plumbing. Gardeners should expect tender annuals to be harmed or killed without protection.
What to do now:
• Bring potted plants indoors; cover in-ground tender plants with fabric (not plastic).
• Disconnect hoses, close exterior spigots, and insulate exposed pipes or allow a slow drip indoors.
• Park vehicles under cover if possible; plan a few extra minutes for scraping frost.
The warning runs 2–9 a.m. CDT Friday. Conditions moderate after sunrise, but subfreezing pockets may persist in colder spots through early morning.
