Green Bay, WI – Dangerously cold weather continues to affect Wisconsin today as an Extreme Cold Warning remains in effect until noon. Wind chills as low as -40°F pose a serious risk of frostbite within minutes of exposure. A Cold Weather Advisory will follow through midnight tonight, with slightly improved conditions expected.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Green Bay, actual temperatures will hover near 0°F today, with wind chills ranging from -20° to -30° in the afternoon. Residents are urged to dress in layers, wear hats, gloves, and limit time outdoors to avoid frostbite or hypothermia.

Light snow is possible early Wednesday morning, bringing less than an inch of accumulation. Winds will shift southwest with gusts up to 26 mph, creating potentially slick conditions on roads. Drivers on I-41 and local highways should exercise caution, especially during the Wednesday morning commute.

The cold will begin to subside by Thursday, with a high near 21°F and sunny skies offering slight relief. Friday’s forecast predicts more sunshine and a high near 20°F before temperatures climb to 30°F over the weekend.

Emergency officials urge everyone to check on elderly neighbors and ensure pets remain indoors. For warming shelter locations or assistance, contact local authorities. Stay tuned to NWS updates for real-time weather changes.
