Milwaukee, WI – Freezing drizzle and light snow are creating hazardous driving conditions Monday morning across southeastern Wisconsin, particularly along I-94 and other major routes. Commuters are urged to use caution, as untreated roads and elevated surfaces may become slick through the early afternoon.
The National Weather Service (NWS) in Milwaukee has issued a Winter Weather Advisory in effect until 3 p.m. Monday for areas including Milwaukee, Racine, Kenosha, and surrounding counties. Forecasters warn of icy patches on roadways, bridges, and sidewalks. Motorists should slow down, allow extra travel time, and avoid sudden stops to reduce the risk of accidents.
Monday’s high will reach 36°F, with freezing drizzle tapering off by late afternoon, leaving cloudy skies through the evening. As temperatures drop to 31°F overnight, untreated surfaces could refreeze, causing additional hazards for Tuesday morning commuters.
Looking ahead, the week will remain largely dry but overcast. Tuesday brings mostly cloudy skies and a high near 35°F. Christmas Day on Wednesday will feature mild conditions, with cloudy skies and a high of 37°F, along with a slight chance of light drizzle later in the day.
By Thursday, temperatures will climb to 42°F, with continued cloudy skies, offering a brief reprieve from the wintry weather. On Friday, southeastern Wisconsin could see a 30% chance of rain as highs reach 46°F.
