Sheboygan, WI – A winter weather advisory remains in effect for Fond du Lac, Sheboygan, Dodge, Ozaukee, and Washington counties until 7 a.m. Thursday as snow and strong winds create hazardous travel conditions.

According to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee/Sullivan, additional snow accumulations of up to one inch are expected, with wind gusts reaching 45 mph. Blowing snow could reduce visibility and make roads slick, posing challenges for the Thursday morning commute.

Officials warn that the combination of snow and high winds may cause tree branches to fall, increasing the risk of power outages. Drivers are advised to slow down, use caution, and check for updated road conditions by calling 511.

The adverse weather conditions are expected to improve after sunrise as winds gradually decrease. However, lingering icy spots on roads may still impact travel throughout the morning.

Residents should plan extra time for their commute and dress warmly against the strong winds. Emergency officials recommend keeping an emergency kit in vehicles, including blankets, flashlights, and extra batteries.

Stay tuned to local weather updates and travel advisories as conditions develop throughout the morning.
