Green Bay, WI – Morning commuters and boaters are being urged to use extra caution as dense fog blankets much of northeast Wisconsin and parts of Lake Michigan early Tuesday.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Green Bay, a Dense Fog Advisory is in effect until 7 a.m. CDT Tuesday for counties including Lincoln, Vilas, Brown, Door, Kewaunee, Shawano, Outagamie, Waupaca, southern Marinette, and southern Oconto. Visibility in some areas has dropped to a quarter mile or less, creating hazardous driving conditions.

Marine warnings are also in place. The NWS in Milwaukee/Sullivan extended a Dense Fog Advisory for the northern and central portions of Lake Michigan, where visibility is reduced to one-quarter to one-half nautical mile. This impacts open waters near Sturgeon Bay, Two Rivers, and across to Michigan waters from Manistee to Charlevoix.

Officials advise motorists to slow down, use headlights, and allow extra following distance when traveling. Mariners are urged to use radar, running lights, and fog signals if navigating during the advisory period.

The fog is expected to gradually lift after sunrise, improving travel conditions both on land and water.
