Somers, WI – A Kenosha County man was found dead in a drainage culvert this week, prompting a death investigation by local authorities.

According to the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 10:07 a.m. Sunday to the 10300 block of County Trunk Highway S in the Village of Somers after receiving a call about a deceased individual. Authorities identified the man as 54-year-old Robert W. Taggart, a local resident.

The sheriff’s office stated the death does not appear to be suspicious. Preliminary findings indicate that Taggart likely succumbed to exposure after being found in the culvert. The official cause of death has not been publicly confirmed, but no foul play is suspected at this time.

Sheriff David W. Zoerner expressed gratitude to Taggart’s family, the Somers Fire Department, and the Kenosha County Highway Department for their assistance during the response and recovery efforts.

The Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office also extended condolences to Taggart’s loved ones and reminded the public of available mental health support services. The Kenosha Human Development Services—Crisis Line remains open 24/7 at 262-657-7188 for those in need.
