Green Bay, WI – A dangerous surge of Arctic air is sweeping across Wisconsin, prompting the National Weather Service to issue Cold Weather Advisories for much of the state through Tuesday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, wind chills are expected to plunge as low as 25 to 30 degrees below zero, creating life-threatening conditions for anyone exposed to the cold for extended periods. The coldest conditions are expected overnight and again early Tuesday morning, with advisories in effect until 10 a.m. CST Tuesday.

In Door County, including Sturgeon Bay, Fish Creek, and Sister Bay, a Cold Weather Advisory begins at 6 p.m. Monday and continues through Tuesday morning. Officials warn wind chills could reach 25 below zero, with frostbite possible on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.

Across central, north-central, and northeast Wisconsin, including Green Bay, Appleton, Oshkosh, Wausau, Stevens Point, Rhinelander, Marshfield, and Manitowoc, wind chills may fall to 30 below zero at times. In these areas, frostbite could occur in 10 to 30 minutes, depending on wind speed and exposure.

Meteorologists say the extreme cold will persist through early Tuesday before gradually easing later in the morning. Until then, residents are urged to limit time outdoors, dress in multiple layers, wear hats and gloves, and ensure pets are kept indoors.

Emergency officials also encourage residents to check on elderly neighbors, use space heaters safely, and avoid unnecessary travel during the coldest hours.

Wisconsin residents should continue monitoring local forecasts and heed all advisories as this dangerous cold snap continues to grip the state.
