Green Bay, WI – Wisconsin residents should prepare for dangerous sub-zero wind chills and snow showers as an arctic cold front arrives Wednesday. Temperatures will plummet, with Thursday morning expected to be the coldest, featuring wind chills as low as -25°F in northern and central Wisconsin.

According to the National Weather Service, a cold front will move into the area Wednesday afternoon, bringing gusty winds and scattered snow showers. Snowfall will be heaviest in Vilas County, where lake-effect snow could lead to accumulations of up to 4 inches. Travel may become hazardous, especially during the evening commute.

The bitterly cold weather continues through Friday morning, with frostbite risks in less than 30 minutes for exposed skin. Residents are urged to wear layers, limit outdoor activity, and bring pets indoors. Temperatures will rebound slightly by Saturday, reaching the mid-30s with a rain-snow mix expected.

Tonight, northern Wisconsin may see brief snow showers, with minor accumulations in Vilas, Oneida, and Lincoln counties. Cloudy skies will persist, with a low of 23°F. On Wednesday, daytime snow showers and high winds could further reduce visibility.

The five-day forecast predicts clearer skies Thursday, though temperatures will remain frigid with highs near 11°F. Snow is likely again Friday, with possible impacts for the morning commute.

Stay updated on local weather alerts and avoid unnecessary travel during hazardous conditions. Monitor roadways, including U.S. Highway 51 and State Route 29, for slick spots.
