Lincoln, IL – The National Weather Service in Central Illinois has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for parts of the region, in effect from 9 PM Saturday to 6 AM Sunday.

A mix of snow, freezing rain, and freezing drizzle is expected to spread across central Illinois late this evening and overnight, particularly for areas along and north of a Rushville–Decatur–Mattoon line.

While snowfall totals are expected to be light, a glaze of ice from freezing drizzle may form on untreated roads, sidewalks, and bridges, creating hazardous travel conditions through early Sunday morning.

Key Details:

  • ❄️ Timing: 9 PM Saturday – 6 AM Sunday
  • 🌧️ Precipitation Type: Snow transitioning to a mix of freezing rain/drizzle
  • ⚠️ Impacts: Slippery roads, icy bridges, and reduced visibility
  • 🚗 Travel Advisory: Use caution and allow extra travel time; untreated surfaces will be slick

Conditions should gradually improve Sunday morning as temperatures rise above freezing.
