Houston, TX – A winter storm warning remains in effect for much of southeast Texas from 6 p.m. Monday through 6 p.m. Tuesday, with snow and ice expected to create hazardous travel conditions.

According to the National Weather Service, areas along and south of the I-10 corridor could see 3 to 5 inches of snow, while regions to the north and southwest may receive 1 to 3 inches. Ice accumulations up to one-tenth of an inch are possible, particularly along and south of the I-10 corridor.

Heavy bands of snow and sleet may develop late Monday night into early Tuesday, with localized totals exceeding 5 inches. Bridges and overpasses will likely become slick, impacting commutes on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings.

Residents are urged to delay non-essential travel. If driving is necessary, exercise extreme caution, allowing extra travel time and avoiding sudden stops or acceleration. Ensure vehicles are winterized to handle freezing conditions.

The storm marks a significant weather event for southeast Texas, a region unaccustomed to heavy snow. Meteorologists emphasize the uncertainty of snow band locations, which could bring higher accumulations to specific areas.
