Richmond, VA – A winter weather advisory has been issued for parts of Virginia and Maryland, with snowfall expected to create hazardous travel conditions from Wednesday morning through Thursday.
According to the National Weather Service in Wakefield, VA, areas including Fluvanna, Caroline, Western and Eastern Louisa, and Western Hanover counties in Virginia will see 2 to 4 inches of snow starting at 6 a.m. Wednesday, lasting until 1 p.m. Thursday. Dorchester County, Maryland, will also receive 2 to 4 inches of snow, with winds gusting up to 35 mph through 6 p.m. Thursday.
The snowfall is expected to impact both the Wednesday morning and evening commutes, creating slippery road conditions. Officials advise drivers to slow down and use caution while traveling.
Residents in affected areas should prepare for potential delays and check local road conditions via Virginia and Maryland’s 511 travel information services. Snow-covered roads, reduced visibility, and gusty winds may make travel difficult, particularly in open areas.
The National Weather Service recommends staying off the roads if possible and using extra caution if travel is necessary. Updates on the storm’s progression will be provided as conditions develop.
