Pendleton, OR – A winter storm is bringing light to moderate snow to the mountains, starting tonight and lasting through Sunday. Snow levels are expected to drop to 3,000 feet or lower, with significant accumulation predicted for key areas.

According to the National Weather Service in Pendleton, the Tollgate area has a high chance of 6 to 10 inches of snow. While the possibility of 10 inches or more is lower (15-30%), mountain ranges, including the Washington Cascades, could see 8 to 12 inches or more, especially along ridges and peaks.

Forecasters advise travelers to prepare for hazardous driving conditions in affected areas. The snowstorm is expected to persist through Sunday afternoon, with higher elevations experiencing the heaviest snowfall.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to monitor weather updates and avoid mountain travel if possible. Localized road closures or delays may occur due to icy conditions.
