Pueblo, CO – A winter storm warning is in effect for southern Colorado from 3 p.m. Friday, April 4, through 3 p.m. Saturday, April 5, as heavy snow is expected to blanket the region. The Southern Sangre de Cristo Mountains, Wet Mountains, and surrounding areas could see snow accumulations ranging from 6 to 14 inches, with winds gusting up to 45 mph.

The storm is also expected to bring significant snow to the Trinidad Vicinity and Walsenburg areas, where 4 to 8 inches of snow is possible, especially at higher elevations. Winds gusting up to 40 mph could create dangerous conditions for motorists.
Officials advise travelers to take precautions by carrying an emergency kit with extra food, water, and a flashlight, and to check road conditions by calling 511 before heading out.
