Wilmington, OH – A sharp drop in temperatures, accompanied by high winds and snow showers, is set to impact the Ohio Valley starting Wednesday afternoon. The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook, warning of wind gusts up to 40 mph and freezing conditions by Thursday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, a cold front moving into the region will bring snow starting Wednesday night, potentially leaving minor accumulations. Temperatures will fall from a daytime high of 40°F on Wednesday to a low of 14°F by Thursday morning. Residents are advised to secure outdoor items and prepare for dangerous wind chills that could reach as low as -5°F.

The strongest winds are expected late Wednesday into early Thursday, with gusts affecting areas along I-71 and I-75. Drivers should exercise caution as blowing snow could reduce visibility and create slippery conditions. While snowfall is expected to remain below half an inch, freezing roadways may still cause delays, especially during the Thursday morning commute.

Looking ahead, Thursday will bring sunny but frigid weather, with a high near 26°F. Friday offers slightly warmer conditions, reaching 31°F under mostly sunny skies. Weekend temperatures will remain cold, with highs near 39°F on Saturday and 45°F on Sunday, when rain becomes likely.

Residents are encouraged to monitor updates from the National Weather Service for the latest information.
