Gaylord, MI – A winter weather advisory remains in effect across Northern Michigan until 11 a.m. Thursday, bringing snow, high winds, and hazardous travel conditions. The advisory impacts Mackinac Island, Bois Blanc Island, and multiple counties in the Northern Lower Peninsula.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Gaylord, snow accumulations of 1 to 4 inches are expected, with the heaviest snowfall occurring in Central Chippewa, Eastern Mackinac, and Southeast Chippewa counties. Winds could gust up to 50 mph in some areas, causing blowing and drifting snow that may significantly reduce visibility.

The affected regions include Emmet, Leelanau, Antrim, Benzie, Grand Traverse, Beaver Island, and Charlevoix, where snow totals of 2 to 4 inches are likely. Cheboygan, Presque Isle, Otsego, Kalkaska, Manistee, and Wexford counties may see up to 3 inches of snow. The combination of snowfall and strong winds could lead to slippery road conditions and downed tree branches.

Residents and travelers should prepare for difficult driving conditions, especially during the Thursday morning commute. Authorities urge motorists to slow down and use caution while on the roads.

For updated weather conditions and road closures, visit the National Weather Service website or check with local authorities.
