Chicago, IL – Snowfall is set to impact Chicagoland starting Thursday morning, with bursts of heavy snow expected between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m.

The National Weather Service (NWS) warns that snowfall rates may reach up to 1 inch per hour during the heaviest bursts. Grassy areas and elevated surfaces are likely to see 1 to 3 inches of wet snow accumulation by early afternoon. According to NWS, wind gusts and reduced visibility could complicate the morning commute, particularly for untreated roadways.

As temperatures rise later in the day, snow will mix with rain before transitioning to light drizzle by Thursday evening. Conditions should improve overnight as precipitation diminishes. Drivers are urged to plan extra time for travel and exercise caution on slippery roads.

The highest snow totals are anticipated in northern and western suburbs. Urban areas, while seeing some slush, may experience less snow buildup due to warming trends. Commuters should stay updated on weather conditions and prepare for delays.
